
Like so many of my clients, I started collecting at around the age of
seven tearing
stamps off envelopes and encouraging relatives to do the same. When I became
"sophisticated" (around the age of ten), I wrote to the (you know who) stamp
company for their five cent approvals. After college and a walk down the aisle I got
serious and specialized in "only" three countries; United States, Germany
Empire, and Palestine. But the family insisted on having food and clothing so I narrowed
it down to the Saar and became a serious collector and exhibitor.
My first venture into dealing in stamps came in 1975 when I established "the
Saar Philatelist" as a mail-order only business. In the late eighties I
began to do stamp shows and started building up the United States, United States
Revenues and United States Possessions stock that I have today. I belong
to the APS, ASDA, ARA, and the Collectors Club of Chicago. Oh yes, I spent 30
years with Sears Roebuck and Co. where I learned the secret of success:
